Things are happening

–from Pastor Steve

Three things coming up that I would like you to be aware of.
September 30, 10 AM to 1 PM — Best Practices for Church Finances — Led by Diane Knudsen, Treasurer for the Cal-Nev Conference of the United Methodist Church.
Church leaders encouraged to attend along with all those involved in any way with Church finances. Counters, check writers, etc. Maybe you are interested in serving in this way. Come and learn more of what this entails. Let me know if you are interested or planning on attending.
Soup Suppers starting up again. During the Season of Lent we had weekly soup suppers and they were a big hit. We are starting up again on the first Thursday
 of every month.
Oct. 6 from 6 PM to 7:30 will be our first Soup Supper with Nancy Hunter and Jeannie Aschenbrenner providing the soup. The program for the evening will be a reading and book signing with Ed Moncrief reading from his new novel, Raising The Blackbirds.
This will be a fun evening hearing Ed read to us from his novel. He will have books to sell and will be signing books for those who would like to get a signed copy. Come join us for an enjoyable evening.
Finally, our yearly
Church Conference will be held on Saturday, Oct. 14 and our new District Superintendent, Shinya Goto will be presiding. The schedule will look like this. 3 PM to 3:45 — Superintendent to meet with the Leadership Council about Staff Parish matters. 4 PM all are invited to the Church Conference.
We will be reviewing the year, setting pastoral compensation, hearing the membership report and electing new officers. You are encouraged to attend.
Mark your calendars! Things are happening. Next week, I will tell you about our
Oct. 15 service to honor some of our city leaders and some changes in the 9 AM service starting Oct 22.
Stay Tuned.
