Americorps is a civil society program supported by the U,S. federal government, foundations, corporations, and other donors engaging adults in public service work with a goal of helping others and meeting critical needs in the community.

Our Neighborhood Ministry has qualified to be a site for an Americorps worker. This means that at a very low cost to us, we get a full time Americorps worker to organize our volunteer program for our Neighborhood Ministry. The really good news is that our Americorps worker is going to be our own Sharon Forrest! Sharon will be recruiting, training, and nurturing volunteers.

Choir Changes

— from Pastor Steve

Some of you commented last Sunday that you miss the choir and look forward to them starting up again. For cost saving reasons, we have had to let our long time choir director Becky Smith go. This was not an easy thing to do as Becky had been with us for a long time and provided valuable leadership. But with limited funds and the need to increase the support to our Neighborhood Ministry, the Staff-Parish Relations Committee felt this was a direction that we needed to go.
Our organist/pianist Carolyn Lamcke will be directing choir as well as providing our instrumental music.I am grateful for Becky’s twenty years of leadership and thankful that Carolyn is willing to jump in and help us out. Choir will start rehearsing in September and will be providing music in worship soon.
Make a joyful noise!
