Mothers Day 2018

This Sunday we celebrate Mothers Day. My mother died in 2010. I miss her. We had a good relationship. She passed on a great deal to me — my questioning and exploring faith, my love for the Church, my social conscience, my commitment to service, and my love of books.

During a difficult time, she stood by me. Her love was unconditional. Do we think about what we pass on to others? Do we think about what love and acceptance means to others? In our ministry here we are planting seeds of acceptance and love. To some we are like a parent figure.– encouraging, loving, accepting, and occasionally being stern and tough.

On so many levels, my mother is the reason I am here. I will be thinking about this on Mothers Day. I have been blessed! I will live to be a blessing to others.

Pray for the Relationship

Let’s start with the practical. We need sox. If you can pick up some new sox or donate some lightly used sox that would be great.

A big thank you to those who came to City Council last night. We made a good showing and it really helps for people to see the folks who are connected with our church. It makes a difference for people to hear the stories of members, volunteers, and those who have been helped by our services. We have miracle stories and it was a particularly powerful witness to hear Bill and Bob tell their stories to the City Council and the packed chambers. Gospel means good news and these stories are great news. I thank all of you for the courage to tell your truth.

Please pray for this ministry we have. Pray for an improved relationship with the Salinas City Center Improvement Association. Please pray that we will get the green light on our kitchen project soon. Pray that stomachs will be filled and lives will be transformed.

Thank you for sharing in this good news!
