The Trinity

I like to think about concepts and ideas that we sometimes just believe without really thinking about. For instance, the Christian doctrine of the Trinity. One God revealed in three ways. If you recite some of the ancient creeds you wonder what is all this? You read some of the Church history and wonder what was so important here and why were people arguing about this stuff? This Sunday I will look at this in regards to the doctrine of the Trinity. We will explore together the meaning behind the doctrine. Here is a quote that has meant more to me about this concept than just about anything. Theologian and writer, Frederick Buechner put it this way –

The Trinity is a way of saying that the mystery beyond us, the mystery among us, and the mystery within us is one and the same mystery.

Check out these passages of scripture for this coming Sunday — Isaiah 6: 1 – 8 — Romans 8: 12 – 17 — and John 3: 1 – 17. See you in worship. Blessings,

Steve

(3) We believe […]
