My friends, I hope you are doing well. This is an unsettling time. If you live alone and are feeling isolated and depressed, please pick up the phone and call a friend or family member. I am going to start making phone calls in the next few days to check in with many of you but if I don’t get to you right away and you want to talk, please give me a call (707) 672-3797. I would welcome that.
Don’t ignore your spiritual life. We are not going to worship together for at least two Sundays but there are practices that you can engage in. In the next couple of days, I will send out some online options for Sunday worship. Our scripture readings for Sunday are — Psalm 23, Ephesians 5: 8 – 14 and John 9: 1 – 41. If you need a Bible, let me know and I will deliver one to you. If you need a copy of the Upper Room Daily Devotional, please let me know.
Pray daily the Lord’s Prayer. One of my favorite prayers is the Serenity Prayer. I share it with you here.
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
courage to change the things we can, and the wisdom to know the difference. Living one day at a time, enjoying one moment at a time, accepting hardship as a pathway to peace, taking as Jesus did, this world as it is, not as I would have it, trusting that you will make all things right if I surrender to your will, that I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with you forever in the next. Amen.
You are in my thoughts and prayers. Please keep me in yours. Shalom,
