All Saints Day

This Sunday, Nov 3, we celebrate All Saints Day. It is a day of remembrance for the saints, with the New Testament meaning of people of faith of all times and places. We celebrate the communion of saints as we remember the dead, both of the Church universal and First United Methodist Church in Salinas. You will be invited to light a candle in memory of someone who has been important to you.

Sunday Nov 17 we will have our annual meeting (Church Conference) after lunch at about 12:15. At this meeting we celebrate the year in ministry, elect officers, celebrate new members, remember those who have died, and set the Pastor’s compensation for the next year. Chairing our Church Conference this year will be Rev. Audrey Ward. Audrey is the pastor of First United Methodist Church in Pacific Grove. All church members are voting members of the church conference.

Sunday, Nov 24 you are invited to participate in an inter-faith Thanksgiving worship service at Temple Beth El at 3 PM. Temple Beth El is located at 1212 Riker Street in Salinas. Participating in this service will be Temple Beth El, First UMC, East Salinas UMC, Northminster Presbyterian Church, Lincoln Ave Presbyterian Church, Good Shepherd Episcopal church, and some from the Islamic tradition. This will be a beautiful time to join together in this great American holiday and to celebrate our religious freedom. I hope you will attend.

Blessings,

Steve
