Sunday Worship Cancelled  3/22 & 3/29
In the light of COVID 19 and based on directions from our District Superintendent, we are cancelling Sunday Worship for the next two Sundays and will evaluate after that. In addition to this, there will be no choir or Bible Study. We will keep you posted as things are changing daily.

If you are aware of church members who do not get email, would you please give them a call. Also, would you please mail your offering in or check out our online giving opportunity. Please email me or call with any concerns or pastoral needs.

Let’s keep each other in daily prayer. Blessings,

Steve

Hi Friends — I want to update you on the ministry of First United Methodist Church and the Neighborhood Services Center. We are prayerfully entering a new phase. Aside from restrooms, most of our services are being moved outdoors into the courtyard. Our office will be opened Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10 to 12 for people to pick up mail and a few hygiene items. People will take their meals and go or stay and eat them in the courtyard.

This was not an easy decision to make but we are feeling it is the best move to make under the circumstances. We are taking this step out of concern for those we serve and our many wonderful volunteers.
Our numbers are down quite a bit with the people who stay at the warming shelter and Victory Mission now quarantined. We have actually been assisting the folks at the warming shelter by taking them food in the afternoon.
At this point we are down to a few outside volunteers and our core volunteers. Please pray for the health of these wonderful servants. This is what we need most of all — your prayers.

Other needs: Oatmeal, pastries, bag lunch items such as bread, lunch meat, small bags of chips, apples, oranges, or tangerines. Oh yes — small paper bags for the lunches. We are also in need of to go containers for hot meals.
We are also looking for a source for masks.
Finally, if you are in the habit of putting cash or check in the plate on Sunday, would you please mail it in. The expenses of our ministry continues and the need for us to give continues. It is a spiritual practice.

As the song says — “I am the church, you are the church, we are the church together, all who follow Jesus all around the world, yes we’re the church together.”

In Christ’s Service,
Pastor Steve
