EVENT SUCCESS

What a great day we had here at the Church this past Monday, for our first celebration of the life of Martin Luther King Jr. Everything came together beautifully. People of all ages, races, religions, economic levels, etc. — all celebrating this powerful life. We had well over a hundred people and I think this will be an annual event that we will sponsor or hand off to others. If you were here — thank you for attending. If not, I hope you caught it on KSBW news or in the Salinas Californian. Blessings,

A Greater Purpose

I love this prayer by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.: Use me, God. Show me how to take who I am, who I want to be, and what I can do, and use it for a purpose greater than myself.”

Isn’t this a simple and beautiful prayer. What more could we ask but to come to the end of our lives and know that we have taken who we are and who we wanted to be, and what we can do, and put it together for a greater purpose and a Power greater than ourselves. All of this would add up to doing God’s will and serving the common good.

We will talk about this on Sunday, Read 1 Corinthians 12: 1 – 11 and reflect on who you are, who you want to be and the gifts and talents that God has given you. Are you allowing God to use you for a greater purpose?

Don’t forget our Martin Luther King celebration this coming Monday, January 21, from 11 to 2. I think this will be a gift to our community. Invite friends and let’s celebrate this great life.

Other quotes by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

“If I cannot do great things, I can do small things in a great way.”
“Not everybody can be famous but everybody can be great because greatness is determined by service… You only need a heart full of grace and a soul generated by love.”
